Abstract

BORGES, Rúbia  and  PANDINI-SIMIANO, Luciane. Challenges of management in child education: between managers conceptions and practices. Educação. UNISINOS [online]. 2019, vol.23, n.3, pp.544-558.  Epub May 04, 2020. ISSN 2177-6210.  https://doi.org/10.4013/edu.2019.233.10.

The article discusses conceptions and practices of managers through their narratives in the scope of Early Childhood Education. As an argumentative resource, elements of a Master's Degree in Education research are presented in two public day-care centers in the south of the state of Santa Catarina. In the analysis, from the dialogue between Benjamin (1984), Dourado (2012), Pandini-Simiano (2015), among others, it was identified that the managers' narratives define thinking about challenges that involve democratic management in children's education. This management is often reduced to administrative aspects, obscuring pedagogical issues. The uniqueness of the subjects and the participation of families, teachers and other professionals are secondary, making the participation of the children invisible. We believe that such practices reveal the precariousness of the democratic experience in these spaces and, above all, the low visibility of this discussion in the work of a manager in early childhood education.

Keywords : Early Childhood Education; Democratic management; Narrative.
