This article results from research on the historiographic characteristics of productions/publications which address Rural Education from a historical perspective or from History of Education quality. Has Rural Education been constituted as an object of interest in the History of Education in Brazil? The answer to the question is built from the mapping of historiographic production on Rural Education in its 20 years of existence and the identification of objects, subjects, spatiotemporal contexts, sources, research categories, theoretical-methodological perspectives and references present in productions/publications. The research is bibliographical and bibliometric in nature, limited to publications in Brazilian journals of History of Education, from 2008 to 2020. The conclusion is that Rural Education is not yet a prominent object in publications published in journals of History Education, while Rural Education has a consolidated place in the area.
