This article aims to understand the school culture in daily development process of young students in the third grade of High School at Colégio Estadual David Mendes Pereira (CEDMP), in Salvador, discussing the concept, practices, and contents in the subjects of language area in teacher’s proposals who were identified in documents of the institution, participant observation and interviews with students. This is qualitative research and to contextualize it, a quick survey was done on the subject in the CAPES database, selected two theses and two dissertations and established dialogues whit the main formulators of the concept: Julia (2001), Chervel (1990), Forquin (1993), Arroyo (2013), Barroso (2013), Silva (2006), Reis (2014) e Pinho (2016).
