Abstract

TELES, Perolina Souza; ZOBOLI, Fabio  and  ORRU, Sílvia Ester. AUTISM, BIOPOLITICAL AND EDUCATION: AMONG PIECES THAT FRAME THE PUZZLE OF NORMALITY. Práx. Educ. [online]. 2024, vol.20, n.51, e15148.  Epub Dec 16, 2024. ISSN 2178-2679.  https://doi.org/10.22481/praxisedu.v20i51.15148.

The life of a person with autism is overseen by a normalizing catalog of biopolitics. Based on this statement, the present essay aims to question the concept of biopolitics and, from this point on, to challenge autism as a diagnosis that frames individuals through the device of normality. As analytical tools, we use the school inclusion of students with autism and indicators such as medicalization. We assume that both have also functioned as devices for the political use of these bodies. We can conclude that the presence of these bodies with autism, included in society, should be seen as a harbinger of new aesthetics and new politics. They are bodies that question expressions such as abnormal/pathological, to conceive them as potentials that enable the expansion of boundaries for a new norm of life.

Keywords : autism; biopolitics; device; inclusion; medicalization.
