This article aims to understand how teaching experiences are comprehended and integrated into studies conducted on the ongoing professional development of teachers in Basic Education. It originates from the collection and analysis of research available in the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD), produced between 2017 and 2021. Based on the analyzed studies, it is concluded that teaching experiences are significant elements for ongoing education in Basic Education, capable of being shared, discussed, analyzed, and collectively reflected upon in collaborative formative processes that have the school as a privileged locus of development. These processes are fostered through the proactive engagement of teachers, facilitating professional growth and the transformation of the school, pedagogical practices, and student learning.
