This test consists of reflections on alterity in education, defending the need to look the other as a source of learning for the development of dialogical and alteritárias relations. At first, we analyze the construction of modern subjectivity whose centrality is the autonomous and rational thinking subject and defines the relationships from presumably universal principles, which often seek to assimilate the Other itself. The theoretical framework of the text is the thought of Emmanuel Levinas, and there emerges the proposal to think the Other in its difference not to objectify it, but accepting it in its concrete reality. Thus, the present proposition defends educational mediation, where the subject, the Other’s face presence, are allowed to wake up to the responsibility and openness to exteriority.
