In the contemporary scenario to discuss about difference and alterity reveals as a central issue in philosophical thought as well as in the field of educational policies and practices. Based on the philosophical thought of Levinas and Derrida, this paper aims to discuss the issue of alterity and the paradox of hospitality questioning the integration modes, the attitude of tolerance and the rules of acceptance of others in education. Emphasizes the continuing tension between the law of unconditional hospitality and the laws that determine the host to another. Converted to the educational context, the school opens its doors to the inclusion of the other, but also determines the conditions under which such inclusion should happens. Faced with this problem, we seek to question: What does thinking about education as hospitality? Which pedagogy would be able to make the educational experience a non-hostile gesture of hospitality to each other? What is the paradox of hospitality to each other in the context of education? How to educate to build an ethical relationship between alterities? These questions throw challenges to educational policies and practices, as problematize the different ways of thinking about the question of the other in education. Finally, we point out that thinking about education from the perspective of ethics of hospitality requires building new ways to relate between knowledge and power, but also the invention of new ways of teaching and learning, and a sensible attention the word of the other and different ways of narrating its history.
