This paper provides a reflection on the cognitive and identity changes of the subjects of digital society - here called immersive subjects in the sense proposed by Lucia Santaella. It is considered the hypothesis that the understanding of concepts such as cyberspace, cyberculture and virtualization requires, in advance, the retrieve of the meaning of terms such as virtual, real, reality and actuality. The theoretical framework is mainly based on studies of Lévy and Deleuze. Initially, the paper examines the limits of mind and body, real and virtual. Thereafter, attempts to identify some changes caused by virtualization and its effects on scholastic spaces. The methodological procedures are based on the literature review from a qualitative approach. The results indicate the emergence of a new subject of learning with different cognitive processes and new social demands. These conditions require a redefinition of knowledge and attitudes of teachers and education experts. The findings suggest the need to intensify studies on the virtualization of contemporary society in order to understand the identity characteristics of immersive subject.
