Abstract

This reflection aims to show that the political question sets the current phase of Gianni Vattimo’s pensiero debole, supported not only by his recent production and related literature, but also by his political intervention in the European Parliament in recent years. The political sense that the pensiero debole assumes as criticism of power represents a characteristic of (non)actuality of a philosophy that thinks the present. Such direction is noticeable through the reflection on democracy and communism, considering the critique of metaphysics and the role of hermeneutics. Obviously, this implies a new reading of communism as motivation and ideal that, according to what is called hermeneutical communism, is still a spectrum in our times.
