Abstract

GARRE, Bárbara Hees  and  HENNING, Paula Corrêa. Passages of a research: mapping methodological tools of discourse analysis in Michel Foucault. Conjectura: filos. e Educ. [online]. 2017, vol.22, n.2, pp.300-319. ISSN 2178-4612.  https://doi.org/10.18226/21784612.v22.n2.05.

This paper is a discussion about Michel Foucault's Discourse Analysis tools. The study was developed with base on a doctoral thesis that analyzed the way the device of Environmental Education in the 21st century is operated and enhanced by Veja magazine. The analyzes were performed using cover stories of the magazine from 2001 until today. A certain discursive constitution of Environmental Education becomes evident in the magazine, but it works in relation to other contemporary practices. We understand that this device is not only created in the magazine's sayings, but the discursive constitution is one of the ways of enhancing it, making it visible and capable of being enunciated today. Although other elements help the support and update the device, there is a strong and heterogeneous discursive network around Environmental Education. Therefore, we employ analytical tools that reinforce our work: enunciation, to enunciate, discourses, devices, power relations and modes of subjectivity. This study is based on authors that employ the post structuralist and Cultural Studies perspective. It became possible for us to understand that there is the constitution of a certain knowledge domination, which is operated with base on relations of power that subjectify individuals to determined practices that are environmentally necessary. In this sense, those sayings about environmental education are guided by emblems dear to Environmental Education researchers, because it seems that they often receive the task of finding the right path to do an adequate Environmental Research. In the opposite direction of those emblems, the movement of this study is to start thinking how Environmental Education has been built and keeps functioning as a strong device in this century.
