Resumen

FANTON, Marcos  y  SILVA, Walter Valdevino Oliveira. Cooperation and conflict in the deliberative processes of political liberalism. Conjectura: filos. e Educ. [online]. 2017, vol.22, n.spe, pp.83-103. ISSN 2178-4612.  https://doi.org/10.18226/21784612.v22.n.especial.07.

Our objective in this text, following the works of the North- American philosopher John Rawls (1921-2002), is to show that the grounds of contemporary political philosophy, in its contractualist, Kantian-inspired, trend are heavily influenced by the research on moral psychology and moral development of the period, which incidentally shows how Rawls’ own moral psychology is historically situated by this research, particularly by the works of Lawrence Kohlberg (1927-1987). The scientific grounds of such research, however, have not aged well - forcing us to revisit and review the pressupositions adopted by Rawls and other contractualist theories of this period. In this article we will detail Rawls’ own approach to moral psychology as a paramount element for the soundness of his doctrine, proceeding with an analysis of the problems within this approach and the consequences of the unviability of his moral psychology for the political model proposed within Rawls’ works.

Palabras clave : John Rawls; Lawrence Kohlberg; Justice as Fairness; Moral Psychology.
