Abstract

SAVI NETO, Pedro. Theodor W. Adorno and the negative dialectics. Conjectura: filos. e Educ. [online]. 2018, vol.23, n.1, pp.2-18. ISSN 2178-4612.  https://doi.org/10.18226/21784612.V23.N1.1.

The present artide, based on a theoreticai research, proposes to approach the conception of the negative dialectic of Theodor Adorno, starting from its critic to the tradicional philosophicai systems of idealistic character. Adorno's philosophy is constructed as criticism of idealistic philosophies, insofar as he understands that such philosophical systems start from a relation of knowledge between subject and object that is, in fa.ct, a relation of domination, inasmuch as is dictated by instrumental interests of disenchantment of nature and its mathematicai submission to the inherent needs of bourgeois society, which was animated by enlightenment. This instrumentality contaminates reason, withdrawing the fundamental rational exercise and becoming again an explanation that retains aspects of the explanation inherent to the myth, which he intended to overcome. This is the element of the dialectic of enlightenment: reason that seeks to overcome myth, but which, by its form of structuring, preserves it in its interior. As a form of response to the instrumental rationality, Adorno conceives its negative dialectic, seeking to protect the rationality of reason by the exercise of negativity. Negativity starts from the awareness of the need to preserve the materiality of reality within the reason, desiderato for which the aesthetic formation of Adorno was determinant. Thus, to reach the objective of this artide, will be approached biographical aspects of the philosopher related to the formation of his thought from his personal experience and linked with the Criticai Theory of Society. With this, it is tried to evidence the origin of its conception of critic of reason by reason, from the conception of a negative dialectic.
