Abstract

KRINDGES, Sandra Maria  and  NODARI, Paulo César. Religion, ethics and psychoanalysis:a possible dialogue?. Conjectura: filos. e Educ. [online]. 2018, vol.23, n.spe2, pp.181-206.  Epub Aug 29, 2019. ISSN 2178-4612.  https://doi.org/10.18226/21784612.v23.especial.8.

Nowadays, a kind of ethical emptiness is being observed, and, keeping in mind that religion is no longer an articulating and agglutinating source of meaning, based on Freud’s criticism of religion, and also the evidence of the decline of representativeness of the paternal law and authority, this article aims to present, on the one hand, a possible connection between ethical and existential emptiness with the religious field in the present day, for example, religious traffic can be seen as a symptomatic behavior and revealing the religious phenomenon as another idea or product of consumption in the vast field of consumerist cultures. On the other hand, the thesis maintained is that, despite having been presented and defended so many theses on the negation and overcoming religion, there is now a kind of return to the sacred. This, in turn, is no longer in the mold of the religion traditionally inherited, but rather from an ambivalent and paradoxical character, which contrasts with both the old and the new ways of being religious for becoming such a way of being in an imminent risk of making religion a resource of search to the confrontation of the contemporary’s neuroses and anxieties more than the exercise of an enlightened religiosity and as one of the forms able to articulate and agglutinate the transcendental search for meaning to the existence.

Keywords : Religious phenomenon; Religious transit; Ethics; Psychoanalysis; Paternal function.
