SCHNEIDER, Marilda Pasqual  e  DANIELEWICZ, Tailândia Guzzi. Historical track of a scientific newspaper: pathways, percussions and challenges. Conjectura: filos. e Educ. [online]. 2019, vol.24, e019025.  Epub 31-Jul-2020. ISSN 2178-4612.  https://doi.org/10.18226/21784612.v24.e019025.

The present article focuses on one of the instruments most used in contemporary times for the dissemination of knowledge produced by science, the scientific journal. The study follows the preconditions of the exploratory research and aims to describe the historical course of the Roteiro, scientific journal of the area of education affiliated to the University of the West of Santa Catarina (UNOESC). The methodological path covered, takes into account the role of the journal, as a structured and formal mechanism of communication and dissemination of scientific knowledge, evidencing pathways, mishaps and resistances throughout its evolutionary trajectory. In empirical terms, it highlights the results of a field study carried out between 2017 and 2018, whose purpose was to gather data and information about the Roteiro, a periodical of the Postgraduate Program in Education of UNOESC, created in 1978 and, in 2017, completed forty years of existence. It highlights a set of difficulties faced in the historical course of the Roadmap and contemporary demands, especially taking into account the advances in information technology, international competitiveness and the new functions attributed to journals as tools for the dissemination of academic-scientific knowledge. In conclusive terms, it points out the need for constant improvement in the periodicals of the education area, especially regarding the implementation of tools to control and increase publication flows, which includes forms of reception, evaluation, revision, publicity and access to scientific knowledge generated. Emphasizes, finally, the need to overcome pride and arrogance on the part of some nations, especially central countries, and the consequent understanding that knowledge must be a means for humanity to live in harmony with the planet and not reason of suffering or grief for most of the vulnerable populations.
