Abstract

GUILHERME, Alexandre Anselmo; SANTOS, Bettina Steren dos  and  SPAGNOLO, Carla. Teacher’s lifelong learning: emerging dialogies from Gert Biesta’s philosophical views. Conjectura: filos. e Educ. [online]. 2020, vol.25, e020025. ISSN 2178-4612.  https://doi.org/10.18226/21784612.v25.e020025.

It is recognized that the teacher’s lifelong education is something essential and fundamental for the improvement of teaching and learning processes in education. Following this, this article considers some aspects related to this subject. Firstly, we discuss official documents dealing with the teacher’s lifelong education; that is, we aim to understand the historical development of this topic and what has been proposed by national and international laws. Secondly, we explain and discuss some theoretical views related to the theme of teacher’s lifelong learning, especially those put forward by Gert Biesta, the important philosopher of education. Finally, following from what we discussed before, we put forward some suggestions for a teacher’s lifelong education that makes a difference in their day-to-day activities. Therefore, the main focus of this article is to analyse critically the topic of teacher’s lifelong education in the light of Gert Biesta’s philosophical views.
