Abstract

MONTEIRO, Paula Cavalcanti; SANTIN FILHO, Ourides  and  RODRIGUES, Maria Aparecida. Investigative activities: a study carried out by chemistry undergraduates. Rev. Ensino Ciênc. Mat. [online]. 2023, vol.14, n.1, a17. ISSN 2179-426X.  https://doi.org/10.26843/rencima.v14n1a17.

This study aims to investigate the contributions of an extension course on Teaching by Investigation (TI) and investigative experimentation for the training of undergraduates in Chemistry. The present qualitative study involved six second-year students from a public university in the state of Paraná (Brazil), who developed various activities, among them, answering questionnaires, participating in debates, reading and discussing texts, visiting research laboratories, conducting experiments and redesigning traditional experimental guidelines with a view to an investigative approach. The data collected by means of audio recording, observations and field notes were analyzed using Discursive Textual Analysis (DTA). The results highlighted that the activities developed in the context of the extension course promoted student dialog and reflection of graduates as regards TI, investigative experimentation and the importance of these approaches in Chemistry Teaching.
