This article emerged from discussions in the discipline of 'Textbook on Science and Mathematics Teaching' from a graduate program in Science and Mathematics Teaching. Considering the textbook as one of the fundamental resources in any discipline because it is one of the means of greater access for both the teacher and the student, and the necessary modifications after the implementation of the National Common Curricular Base, this article was carried out with the objective of to analyze the changes related to the sine function approach present in one of the mathematics textbooks approved in the PNLD 2021 compared to one of the mathematics textbooks approved in the PNLD 2018. For this purpose, the Anthropological Theory of Didactics and Institutional Analysis were adopted to analyze selected search objects. With this, it was possible to perceive subtle changes in the theoretical approach, while the changes in the questions were more noticeable.
