In this current work, we sought to discuss the issue of compulsory education in Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso, Provinces that sought to standardize this step since the first half of the nineteenth century. With this, we will anchor the current study of contributions from comparative studies and discourse analysis of the chairmen's reports of a southeastern province and one in western Brazil. Because this fact is taking a measure of global reach, so, the current work is focused on the multiplicities. The research sought dialogue with the conception of governmentality, considering the subject of compulsory education as a necessity and urgency facing management and homogenization of the population.
