The methodology of this article, developed along the lines of Cultural History, is a biographical-narrative approach. Among other concepts, it discusses tradition, innovation, female genealogy from the perspective of new ways to focus on History of Education. It considers memory both as a discourse and as a presence in objects and material culture. An object stored and gifted from generation to generation, to be used by the women of a same family at the time of childbirth is analyzed. It problematizes tthe topic of human formation in spaces of family relations and in non-schooled modes, and asks what the sisters teach each other, what learnings occur in the relationships between women who are neighbors, friends, cousins, sisters, nieces.
