In Chile, the origins of vocational technical education dating back to the eighteenth century. Responding to the emerging needs of specialized human resources have the first schools of this type of education were established. Through the analysis of the trajectory of vocational training you can appreciate different historical moments, situations and characteristics, involving both institutions and given specialties, and its effectiveness in terms of the requirements of society. The article reports of the work done in the Fondecyt Nº1100473, project institution which is appreciated as well as those who have collaborated in the study.
