This article aims to analyse Italian schools that existed in Pelotas (RS, Brazil), as well as to briefly highlight Italian immigration in the city. To do so, we mostly use sources such as consular documents, news in local newspapers and the report by the traveller Ullrich. The research is limited to documents of the end of the 19th century. During research, we noticed a relationship between Italian schools and societies in Pelotas, as well as tension within the societies.

Keywords : immigration; Italian societies, Italian schools.
