Abstract

AQUINO, Vanessa Barrozo Teixeira  and  TAMBARA, Elomar. PUBLIC SECONDARY EDUCATION IN THE CITY OF RIO GRANDE/RS (1846-1873). Hist. Educ. [online]. 2020, vol.24, e91141.  Epub July 05, 2020. ISSN 2236-3459.  https://doi.org/10.1590/2236-3459/91141.

The article addresses the public secondary education in the city of Rio Grande during the imperial period. The research identified and analyzed the low offer of public classes that were held in the city's Reading Office, based on data collected in the local press and in documents of public instruction. In this regard, the article proposes a reflection on the historical-educational aspects that led to the establishment and termination of the public secondary education offer in the city throughout the 19th century.
