Using the newspaper Correio Braziliense as a source, specifically the column titled “Visto, Lido e Ouvido”, written by journalist Ari Cunha, this paper aims at analyzing the criticisms towards the education system of Brasília between the years 1960 and 1965. Analyses of the mentioned column made it possible to observe the impasses that were present in the process of implementation of the education system in the federal capital: problems related to education funding; lack of school meals during the first years of operation of the schools; obstacles to the provision of materials to the students in a city that were still under construction; the emergence of the need for school transport; the unequal implementation of the education system in a neighborhood located in Asa Norte, as well as the instability of the teaching staff conditions in the city.
