Resumen

LORENZO, Manuel Ferraz; TRUJILLO, Cristian Machado  y  RODRIGUEZ-HERNANDEZ, Juan. INTERNATIONAL POLICY STRATEGIES IN "ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION". SPAIN 1970-1980. Hist. Educ. [online]. 2022, vol.26, e118322.  Epub 15-Oct-2022. ISSN 2236-3459.  https://doi.org/10.1590/2236-3459/118322.

Environmental Education was established as a specific field of knowledge at the end of the 1960s and early 1970s. The need to spread awareness of nature conservation among the world's population was promoted, above all, by the United Nations (UN), and especially by UNESCO and the programme created for this purpose, the UN Environment Program (UNEP). In addition, it was considered essential to introduce new contents and practices in formal and non-formal educational institutions in order to contribute to the global strategy for the preservation of nature and the environment. The focus of this paper is to study how this strategy was implemented in Spain during the period of late Francoism and the democratic transition.

Palabras clave : nature; UNESCO-UNEP; Environmental Education; school curriculum; Spain.
