RAMOS, Géssica Priscila. The second school group of Campinas/SP and its social coverage: analysis of the service profile (1912-1920). Hist. Educ. [online]. 2024, vol.28, e137886. Epub 31-Dic-2024. ISSN 2236-3459. https://doi.org/10.1590/2236-3459/137886.
This article addresses the service profile of the Second School Group, Dr. Quirino dos Santos, and its social scope. Through documentary analysis, we sought to identify the profession of those responsible for enrolling children registered in the group Enrollment Books, until 1920. 134 professions were located and divided into 4 analysis categories: Poor Workers; Middle Layer Workers; Elite; Undefined. Although the presence of elites was facilitated in this space given its central location in the municipality, the School Group was predominantly made up of sons and daughters of poor workers and the middle classes - from maids to workers, from traders to farmers and teachers. Thus, even though officially the results are negligible regarding the role of this school in the democratization of local primary education, the workers' actions in this direction were symbolically significant and important with the persistent and continuous enrollment of their children in this Group.
