This text aims to discuss the performance of the publicly traded company Cogna Educação, considering the financialization movement of higher education and basic education in Brazil, which has intensified in the last decade and has become an attractive pole of investments by large business groups. The text discusses, mainly, the expansion movement and the student financing of the business group. The methodology consists of documentary research with data collected from the company's institutional reports. The results point to a broad process of commodification of education from the insertion of publicly traded private groups in the stock market, as is the case of Cogna Educação, which compromises the offer of education as a social right.
