LIMA, Jean Paulo Loiola; SAWITZKI, Maristela Cortez  y  PESSANO, Edward Frederico Castro. Research on the teaching practices of chemistry in high school and the perception of educators and students on formation in the social perspective. Rev. Exitus [online]. 2017, vol.7, n.3, pp.115-145.  Epub 21-Mayo-2019. ISSN 2237-9460.  https://doi.org/10.24065/2237-9460.2017v7n3id351.

This work’s main purpose is to investigate practices on chemistry teaching in high school’s third grade classes in Uruguaiana city under the perspective of citizenship development. At first, it is presented some researchers’ theories on the possibility of students formation and capacitation for decision making, regarding topics on chemistry that are related to daily activities and can contribute to social formation, taking Science teaching beyond the usual strictly technicist approach. The commitment to ethical development, regardless the subject is a teacher’s inherent obligation and should not be limited to a specific knowledge area. This work approaches how an ethical way of thinking should be inserted into teacher’s practice. The investigation conducted consists in a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the results during the first semester of the 2017. It is presented a discussion on whether Uruguaiana public school teachers’ theoretical approach is related to the ethical speech, engaged to citizenship formation and collective values, or not. In order to develop the subject under study some questions were brought into light regarding individualistic ethical values, the promotion of people’s equality and the commitment to citizenship. Always considering the discussion of themes that can lead one to act as a vector in search of a more human and fraternal community. Despite the fact that this study shows promising results concerning chemistry teaching, it is clear that much is yet to be changed in order to achieve the goal of a more broad contribution from chemistry teaching into a more human and citizenship education.
