This paper aims to discuss the contributions of the Postgraduate Program in Education of the Federal University of Tocantins (PPGE-UFT) to the personal and professional trajectory of the PPGE-UFT alumni who work in primary and secondary education in the municipality of Palmas- TO. The research design included documentary research, literature review and field research. Data on the influence of PPGE-UFT in the alumni teaching practice were obtained through interviews. In the interviews we opted for thematic oral history with a structured script, which was organized based on four categories: a) motivations for professional choice; b) pedagogical practice in primary and secondary education; c) the process of democratization and access of the teachers of primary and secondary education to master’s programs in Education in the Amazon region; and d) the qualification in the PPGE / UFT in face of their school reality. The interviews were transcribed and textualized. The interviewees' discourses showed that the contribution of the PPGE-UFT is consolidated from the set of subjects and activities offered by the program, participation in research groups and scientific events, incentive for student production, supervision and viva processes and resources offered by the institution harboring the program.
