This article presents a qualitative research, carried out through the State of the Art in 2017. The objective was to analyze the theoretical productions developed at the Federal University of Pará on the Student Assistance Policy to identify which aspects have been privileged about the PNAES in this context. The searches for the theoretical productions were made from April to October 2017 on the websites Scielo, Google Scholar, Capes Thesis Bank, UFPA Virtual Library Database and UFPA Physical Library Database, Altamira Campus, using the descriptors “Student Assistance Program at UFPA”, “PNAES at UFPA” and “Permanence Program at UFPA”. The criterion for inclusion in the corpus was to have the PNAES as an object of investigation and to have been published in the period from 2007 to 2017. Sixty-one productions were found, eleven of them constituted the corpus. The studies present limits and weaknesses in relation to the implementation of this policy, mainly on campuses in the interior, on which productions that problematize student assistance were not identified, indicating a gap on this discussion and a field for new research.
