BASSO, Jaqueline Daniela. RURAL SPECIALIZATION COURSES IN THE STATE OF SÃO PAULO IN THE 1930S AND 1940S. Rev. Exitus [online]. 2021, vol.11, e020124.  Epub 10-Maio-2022. ISSN 2237-9460.  https://doi.org/10.24065/2237-9460.2021v11n1id1514.

This work intends to collaborate with the construction of the memory of rural education, aiming to describe and analyze the Rural Specialization Courses offered, in the 1930s and 1940s, in order to prepare teachers for work in rural schools in the interior of the state of São Paulo, initiatives influenced by Pedagogical Ruralism, a movement that defended rural education as a tool for fixing man on the land. As it is a historical research, it used a bibliographic review and documentary research that was dedicated to a teaching yearbook; decrees; laws and newspaper news. Thus, it is concluded that the practical curriculum (based on notions of agriculture, livestock and hygiene) of the Rural Specialization Courses was not enough to carry out rural ideals. Given that, education alone is not able to contain a movement of a social and economic order, materialized in the migration of the population from rural areas to cities.
