Abstract

MARRERO, Adriana. IS THERE LIFE IN THE MACHINE? NOTES ON EDUCATION IN THE XXI CENTURY AND THE URUGUAY CASE. Rev. Exitus [online]. 2021, vol.11, e020127.  Epub May 10, 2022. ISSN 2237-9460.  https://doi.org/10.24065/2237-9460.2021v11n1id1546.

Historically, Uruguayan education has always been marked by the principles of universality and equality. Based on the indisputable right of everyone to receive free, compulsory and secular education, it has always aimed to guarantee the most humble and marginalized access to all the cultural assets of our society. However, in the XXI century we see that the ambition of its purpose is the reason for its failure. This essay attempts to locate the flaws of a public education system that, pretending to be perfect, turned out to be unfair, exclusive and reproductive.

Keywords : Public education; Uruguayan education; Education rights.
