Abstract

POTENTE, Ronia Carla de Oliveira Lima  and  FELIPPE, Jonis Manhães Sales. PATHOLOGIZATION AND MEDICALIZATION OF SCHOOL LIFE AND THE SOCIAL RIGHT TO EDUCATION IN BRAZIL. Rev. Exitus [online]. 2024, vol.14, e024022.  Epub June 12, 2024. ISSN 2237-9460.  https://doi.org/10.24065/re.v14i1.2598.

Based on a theoretical reflection on the conceptions of medicalization and pathologization of school life, this article seeks to understand how these phenomena influence the conduct of teaching and learning processes and the exercise of the social right to education in the Brazilian context. The study is characterized as a theoretical essay derived from bibliographic research. The conclusions obtained demonstrate the need to break with organicist views, as well as to establish social policies, including educational ones, that respect human diversity and different ways of learning, but also address Brazilian social inequality.

Keywords : Medicalization of School Life; Pathologization of School Life; Brazilian Educational System..
