The article establishes an interchange with the thinking of other researchers who have also selected A Brief Course in the History of Education, authored in 1907 by American writer Paul Monroe, as an object of study and focus of investigation. To that end, it discusses the chosen encyclopedic format, the emphasis given to certain previously orchestrated educational experiences, as well as the omission of others. The wide circulation that the book enjoyed makes it possible to scrutinize how it influenced the formation of a specific narrative style, both for the production of historiography as well as in teaching the Histories of Education.
