Abstract

SETUBAL, Flávia Meneguelli Ribeiro  and  REBOUCAS, Moema Lúcia Martins. Comics and education: a complex relationship. Rev. Bras. Hist. Educ [online]. 2015, vol.15, n.1, pp.301-334. ISSN 2238-0094.  https://doi.org/10.4025/rbhe.v15i1.551.

The purpose of this paper is to develop a literature search in order to explain the principal historic facts that permeate the emergence and development of comic books (comics), in Brazil and in the world, proposing to cross this information with specific periods in the history of Brazilian education in order to understand how it was the relationship between them. The analysis results show that, despite having followed the world at its birth, the development of comic books in Brazil occurred late in relation to Europe, with regard to the arrival of the comics to the academic and school environment, with more significant initiatives, mainly related to public policies, only in the 90s and 2000.
