Abstract

PERES, Eliane  and  BORGES, Francieli. Relations between history and literature: Cora Coralina's work and the education and processes of schooling issues at the end of the nineteenth century and beginning of twentieth. Rev. Bras. Hist. Educ [online]. 2015, vol.15, n.2, pp.23-53. ISSN 2238-0094.  https://doi.org/10.4025/rbhe.v15i2.676.

This paper examines the interconnections among history, literature and modes of teaching and learning from the work of poet Cora Coralina (1889-1985). The writer, from Goiânia, Brazil, in numerous poems and short stories, refers to educational spaces she attended to, educational materials used at school, school practices, to teachers, how she learned to read and write, and the influence of these memories in her life. With that interpretative key, it is possible to observe some aspects of how students were taught in the countryside of Brazil in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. In more specific terms, it is intended to contribute to the History of Education and Schooling in the mentioned period, as well as, to studies that combine history and literature.

Keywords : Cora Coralina; History of Education; Schooling; Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries.
