Abstract

SUASNABAR, Claudio  and  CHELI, Verónica. The role of international congresses in the process of formation of the disciplinary field of education in Argentina (1910-1937). Rev. Bras. Hist. Educ [online]. 2015, vol.15, n.3, pp.84-108. ISSN 2238-0094.  https://doi.org/10.4025/rbhe.v15i3.750.

Since the nineteenth century emerged in Argentina and Europe an education field oriented to the study of educational phenomena, closely linked to the emergence of national education systems, and to the demands of professional qualification. This field was institutionalized in the early twentieth century, both inside and outside the university but closely related to the field of professional knowledge. This process of shaping education as a disciplinary field involves networking and communication circuits (mainly, specialized journals and conferences) and generating mechanisms of internal regulation of the production of knowledge and hierarchies among agents. International Congresses on Education in Europe start focusing different themes (child, education, psychology and philosophy) and nucleating different audiences (teachers, civil servants, doctors and intellectuals) where numerous Argentine specialists participate. This work is a first exploration of the role of International Congresses not only in the emergence of this field of discipline, but also in the circuits of dissemination and reception forms of pedagogical knowledge.

Keywords : International Congresses; Educational Knowledge; Education System; Argentina.
