Abstract: This article analyzes the representations about the ‘death’ materialized in different compositions in the periodical Vida Escolar- of the students organ in Campo Grande, edited by the College ‘Visconde de Taunay’ which circulated between 1934 and 1936 in the city of Campo Grande, in the South of the undivided State of Mato Grosso, in order to identify the mobilization speeches for teaching to this stage of life, or the end of it. To this end, we analyzed 19 numbers, from 22 published and located in the Regional Documentation Center of the Universidade Federal da Grande Dourados (UFGD). It was noticed that the representations about the death are intrinsic related to the values of civility, religiosity and medical science.

Keywords : education for death; school newspaper; social representation; Mato Grosso.
