Abstract

SOARES, Jefferson da Costa. Aspects of the Crisis of the Institutional Program in the Colégio Pedro II (1931-1945). Rev. Bras. Hist. Educ [online]. 2017, vol.17, n.4, pp.224-255. ISSN 2238-0094.  https://doi.org/10.4025/rbhe.v17n4.1000.

Abstract: The aim of this article is to show some results of a doctoral research in Education, in which we defend that the ‘institutional program’ of the Colégio Pedro II went through a crisis that culminated in the loss of its patronage. The time cut adopted is the period between 1931 and 1945, marked by the Campos and Capanema Reforms, which consolidated the process of institutionalization of Brazilian secondary education. The main theoretical reference was Dubet (2002), who built the notion of ‘institutional program’. The methodology used was the analysis of the legislation on the educational system and the sources found in the Documentation and Memory Nucleus of the Colégio Pedro II and in the Center for Research and Documentation of Contemporary History of Brazil of the Fundação Getúlio Vargas.

Keywords : Colégio Pedro II; institutional program; secondary teaching.
