Abstract: In this article, after characterizing the extraordinary changes that took place in the 1970s and 1990s in various domains, with emphasis on the domination of digital technologies of communication and information, which contributed to the new 'historicity regime', I try to establish direct and indirect connections between the ideology of present, the memory, the history and the heritage, seeking to show the effects of these profound transformations on the fields of school culture, understood as a category of analysis and field of investigation and renewal of the history of education. In the wake of many studies published in the last decades, marked by a theoretical and methodological openness to other disciplinary areas, I propose to deepen this theoretical discussion in the light of the (contra) proposals presented by João Maria André, in an evocation of the six proposals for the next millennium, formulated by Italo Calvino.
