Abstract

PINHEIRO, Antonio Carlos Ferreira. Historians of Brazilian education: a dialogue of generations. Rev. Bras. Hist. Educ [online]. 2019, vol.19, e059.  Epub May 01, 2019. ISSN 2238-0094.  https://doi.org/10.4025/rbhe.v19.2019.e059.

This paper analyzed the formation profile of Brazilian History of Education researchers, beginning the discussion with the identification of the belonging of these professionals to the diverse generations of historians in this field. In this study, for the intended analysis, 731 historians were identified and distributed into five generations of the Brazilian History of Education: the first, from 1838 to 1910; the 2nd, from 1911 to 1965; the 3rd, from 1966 to 1980; the 4th, from 1981 to 2000; and, finally, the 5th generation, from 2001 to the present. From these data, it was possible to infer the following considerations: the Brazilian historians of Education have their origins in professional training mainly at Pedagogy and History undergraduate programs, and an intense process of “feminization” has taken place, starting from the 2nd generation, which stands out quantitatively in a special mode in the 5th generation.

Keywords : formation of historians of education; predominance of pedagogues and historians; feminization.
