Abstract

GONCALVES, Michelle Carreirão; GALAK, Eduardo Lautaro  and  VAZ, Alexandre Fernandez. The aesthetic character of sport: notes on Jorge Romero Brest. Rev. Bras. Hist. Educ [online]. 2021, vol.21, e145.  Epub Dec 02, 2020. ISSN 2238-0094.  https://doi.org/10.4025/rbhe.v21.2021.e145.

Abstract: This paper analyses a set of Jorge Romero Brest texts, published in the Argentinean journal Revista de la Educación Física between 1928 and 1930. Those papers look for the aesthetic character of sport from a dialogue with different areas such as Education, Philosophy, Art and Physical Education. Mobilizing knowledge and his own métier as a teacher of this discipline, as well as an art critic, those works present a singular point of view of the sports phenomenon even in the early first decades of the 20th century, showing its potential as an aesthetic artefact, as a way for emotions and forms.

Keywords : body education; aesthetic; Revista de la Educación Física; argentine education.
