Abstract

MOLINA, Rodrigo Sarruge. Students fighting for freedom:the resistance and the fight against dictatorship, Piracicaba/São Paulo - 1964 to 1982. Rev. Bras. Hist. Educ [online]. 2021, vol.21, e156.  Epub Jan 08, 2021. ISSN 2238-0094.  https://doi.org/10.4025/rbhe.v21.2021.e156.

This analysis lies in the area of studies of the History of Education and its research objective is the resistance of the Student Movement in the city of Piracicaba, state of São Paulo, against the 1964 civil-military coup and the dictatorship. It is understood that although the Piracicaba Student Movement had its particularities, it was connected to the main national issues of the period and we hope to demonstrate its contribution to encourage counter hegemony, the reorganization of the National Student Union and the transition to democracy in Brazil. The theoretical and methodological framework is the dialectical historical materialism that assisted in the investigation work with primary sources located mainly in the Public Archives of the State of São Paulo and the University of São Paulo.

Keywords : student movement; 1964 coup; civil-military dictatorship; National Students Union (UNE).
