Abstract

PERRUPATO, Sebastian Domingo. Educational innovation and Jesuit university. Teaching proposals for the Hispanic Monarchy in the 18th century. Rev. Bras. Hist. Educ [online]. 2021, vol.21, e182.  Epub June 22, 2021. ISSN 2238-0094.  https://doi.org/10.4025/10.4025/rbhe.v21.2021.e182.

This article aims to analyze the innovations that, around the forms of teaching, were developed in the Jesuit universities of the Hispanic Monarchy during the 18th century. An interpretive hermeneutical research is proposed that is conceptually articulated on the notion of school culture. In this way, based on the methodological tools of the Social History of education, a multiplicity of sources are used that seek to understand the teaching practices of the Society in the period. The sources used will be documents extracted from various Spanish and American repositories, the General Constitutions of the Society, the Ratio Atque Institutio Studiorum and some particular Constitutions that will be complemented with a bibliographic analysis and personal interviews.

Keywords : teaching; university; Jesus company; hispanic monarchy.
