This article aims to study the way in which the French Method of Physical Education originated in France has been subjected to several appropriations in schooling experiences in Physical Education in Brazil. It dialogues with the assumptions of Cultural History and Micro-history to figure out the use of a foreign model in daily practices, operating with historical sources from Physical Education schools created in the 1930s. It concludes that was an acclimatization of the French Method to the recipient culture, bringing physical exercises closer to the cultural habits of Brazilian’s people. Therefore, it uses the popular culture, which has coexisted pacifically with the foreign scientific methodology, while used as a nationality’s expression.
