Resumen

PEREIRA, Anderson De Carvalho. The tupinambá care of the self in French travel books during the colonial Brazilian history (XVI and XVII centuries): discourses based on educational processes. Rev. Bras. Hist. Educ [online]. 2022, vol.22, e229.  Epub 23-Sep-2022. ISSN 2238-0094.  https://doi.org/10.4025/rbhe.v22.2022.e229.

The article shows the analysis of two books of accounts of two french travelers who passed through Colonial Brazil, in the 16th century (Jean de Léry) and in the 17th century (Yves D’Évreux). A game with alterity was remarked, which founded the main objective of investigating how the reflections of these Europeans on Tupinambá indigenous care convey discourses about the roots of Brazilian education. For this, cutouts of the two works were analyzed according to a historical-discursive perspective. We conclude that the ways of indigenous Tupinambás to educate their children are read by travelers through the paradigm of sin, conversion and purity (sacred and profane) of the social body.

Palabras clave : history of brazilian education; roots of brazilian education; Jean de Léry; Yves D’Évreux.
