Abstract

PINTO, Marcelo Felício Martins  and  HAMDAN, Juliana Cesário. The ‘General history of Africa collection’ and the historiography of education: for a decolonizing teaching. Rev. Bras. Hist. Educ [online]. 2023, vol.23, e254.  Epub Jan 02, 2023. ISSN 2238-0094.  https://doi.org/10.4025/rbhe.v23.2023.e254.

This work seeks to understand the theoretical-methodological elements that guided the construction of the ‘General history of Africa’ Collection (GHA), financed by UNESCO. At the same time, our objective is to understand the possible scope of this knowledge in the Historiography of Education, considering the debates on ‘decolonizing the curricula’. We found that GHA and other publications derived from it, can constitute reference works in the writing of textbooks and the investigations within the History and Historiography of Education field. They can also give rise to anti-racist teaching and scientific practices.

Keywords : african perspective; teaching decolonization; education; anti-racist rules.
