Abstract

MURACA, Mariateresa. The influence, circulation and reinvention of Paulo Freire’s thought in Italy. Rev. Bras. Hist. Educ [online]. 2023, vol.23, e282.  Epub June 12, 2023. ISSN 2238-0094.  https://doi.org/10.4025/rbhe.v23.2023.e282.

The paper deepens the circulation of Paulo Freire’s thought in Italy, from a bibliographic methodology based on the work of Paulo Freire and his Italian scholars. Particularly, it aims to explore the relationships and means that made possible the introduction of Freirian pedagogy in Italy; the contexts with which it dialogued more fruitfully; the main configurations that its reinvention assumed; the practices and analyzes it continues to promote; the authors who contributed the most to its dissemination. The research results allow identifying the continuities and fundamental changes that characterized the fifty years that elapsed since the first publication of the Pedagogia degli oppressi in Italy in 1971, as well as the most innovative and fertile directions of study registered today.

Keywords : Paulo Freire; Italy; popular pedagogy; reinvention.
