When we were developing our research on domestic violence against children and adolescents, funded by CNPq in 2010 and 2011, Professor Elias Boaventura’s contribution was invaluable. His reflections on violence deviate from common sense and neither does he follow the main theoretical approaches on the latest academic writings on the subject. So following his thoughts and conceptions on the problem became both a theoretical and an emotional challenge. Professor Boaventura wrote two texts. The first is Violence - a complex vision (2011a) and the second is Education for new times (2012b). This paper focuses on both.
