This paper discusses the art of announcement and denunciation in Paulo Freire through the eyes of theology and highlights some of the aspects in his writings that resemble the biblical praxis of prophecy and, most importantly, the questions he raises about the prophet’s figure from the perspective of education. The paper builds a close relationship with Elias Boaventura’s chronicles that identify him as a prophetic educator when writing about the crises faced by Unimep between the years 2006 and 2008, specially his insights on dialogue as a way to overcome the crises and the interventions in Unimep’s educational project brought about in late 2006 by the Sponsoring Institution, that can be seen as prophetic due to its tone of denunciation and announcement.
