Abstract

OLIVEIRA, Fábio Falcão. The Ockhamista heritage - a reading pathway to understand the Protestant Reformation. Rev. Comunic [online]. 2014, vol.21, n.3, pp.185-202. ISSN 2238-121X.  https://doi.org/10.15600/2238-121X/comunicacoes.v21n3p185-202.

The prospect of this article is to follow the pathways of the creation of the ockhamistic thought considering the movement the Arabic literary culture produced in the Middle Ages. In this sense, we understand that the disparities that appear in this paper enter not only in the construction of the knowledge and ecclesiastical structure but also in a proposal for the emergence of Protestantism. William of Ockham is a major contributor to the Protestant Reformation, since thrift contributes significantly to the future role of reformers. We could not conceive the Protestant Reformation without understanding this Franciscan priest’s steps.

Keywords : Nominalism; Protestant Reformation; Ockham and Aristotelianism.
